She's So Cute. . . A 4 Month Update

Well, I'm almost caught up in my "blogging world." Month 4 with the baby girl was, as always, full of some memorable times! Here's some highlights. . .

-Tried some new wipes brands. . . ended up with some diaper rash and bleeding. Still no success. I guess if you find something that works (washcloth and water) you should just not mess with it, but it would be convenient to be able to use baby wipes (especially when we are out and about).

-Rebecca had some nasty bowel issues (I won't give you TMI, but it was concerning to me), so I went off dairy to see if that was the culprit. Sure enough it cleared it up which was hard for me (I LOVE dairy). I did 3 weeks totally dairy free. When we went to Rebecca's 4 mo dr. appointment the doctor said if the bowel movements were all I was worried about then it wasn't enough of a concern to him for me to go off dairy. So I started back on dairy to find that she got pretty fussy and was pretty gassy (which seems like it causes her quite a bit of discomfort). So now I'm on a restricted dairy diet (avoiding drinking milk, eating cheese, yogurt, ice cream, etc. but not inspecting ingredients in every food and avoiding EVERYTHING with milk, whey, etc.) and hopefully that will work. The good of all of this, I found that Almond Milk really isn't that bad and with sales and coupons I can find it for a decent price. The bad of all of this, I haven't found a good yogurt or cheese replacement (2 things which are a staple in my diet).

-Rebecca rolled over from from to back. . . several times. She also seems to scoot herself around pretty good. I'll put her down and find her on the other side of the blanket facing the opposite direction or go to get her in her crib to find she's moved 3 feet from where I put her. She's becoming quite an active little lady, but still LOVES to cuddle and is SO much a people person!

-Rebecca met Great Grandpa Sawyer for the first time in her 4th month. On our way to SLC for Christmas we stopped in Logan and visited with Great Grandpa. It was a nice visit and I'm so glad that Rebecca was able to meet him.

-Has gotten a pretty stellar bald spot! Rebecca loves to look around and has rubbed a pretty good spot on the back of her head! Good thing she has a beautiful head! :)

-Started holding and 'playing' with toys. She started grabbing toys, holding onto them and bringing them to her mouth.

-Likes to stand up. David loved to stand from day 1. He was (and still is) a rigid little guy. Becca isn't a floppy noodle, but a happy medium. She just started liking to stand this month and enjoys the jumparoo.

-Becca has had a bit of a reflux issue. It has gotten worse at times and better at times. I think the dairy definitely affects how MUCH she is spitting up, but doesn't solve the problem when I am off dairy. The doctor talked about medicating her at her 10 day appointment and even gave us a prescription, but I decided against it and decided to try some other things instead. We were somewhat successful and since for the most part she was happy I didn't stress too much. When I went to her 4 month appointment the doctor had some concerns and felt like it was time to try some medication.

Funnies From the Little Fellow :)

Decided it was time for a little update on David (although a BIG update is on it's way. . . the little man turns 2 next month!!!!!!!) David is a CHARACTER! Some of the things he is doing and saying recently. . .

David learned how to climb INTO the crib. . . so much for the little ones sharing a room. One morning I woke up to some noise in the kids room. As I walk into the room I see David jumping in Rebecca's crib, which he quickly stops and jumps out of the crib. Uh oh, TROUBLE! Another night I wake up to both Rebecca and David crying/screaming. I go into their room to find David laying in the crib next to Rebecca, both awake screaming at each other. After a few of these types of incidents we decided it was time to move the crib until Rebecca gets a little bigger and can fend for herself.

Brett gets David up every morning and get him dressed and ready to go to the babysitter. One morning this last week, Brett went into David's room to wake him up. The night before I had put him in bed, waited until he fell asleep and then closed the door. Nothing unusual. . . so when Brett went in and I heard his confusion I had to go in to see what was up! Brett had found David sleeping in only his diaper! I found his pajamas sitting on the shelf with his toys! The silly boy had undressed sometime between when I closed his door and when Brett woke him up and shoved his clothes onto the shelf. When I asked him why he took his clothes off he told me "back hurt." Not exactly sure what that meant, but whatever crazy boy!

David has become OBSESSED with holding his sister! He LOVES her and always wants to hold her, play with her, talk to her, help her, etc. He'll always tell me "Momma, I hold her." He'll sit down, get his blanket, and tell me where to put her. Sometimes I wonder if it's possible for a baby to be loved TOO much. David likes to lay down next to Rebecca, talk to her, and share his toys with her. Just last night he brought over his big tractor and laid next to her and showed Rebecca his tractor. He told her ALL about it! Another day, David 'helped' Rebecca roll over and over all the way across the room. When I told him he couldn't do that because he could hurt her he told me "Momma, Becca turning." Luckily she just smiled and laughed through the whole thing (not always her response to his adoration, but it is a quite frequent response luckily)!

David really enjoys looking at pictures of our families and naming all of the people in them (or making me name them for him). The first person he finds, no matter which side of the family we're looking at, is ALWAYS grandpa. He'll point, laugh, smile, and say, "Gampa, gampa." He loves his grandmas and grandpas. He'll look in our cell phones for their pictures and has been known to call them a few times. This week my mom is coming up to help out and babysit because I'm working some extra hours at work and then this weekend we will be seeing Brett's parents for our nephew's first birthday, so we've been talking about Grandma and Grandpa a lot. David started saying, "Grandma, come back home." It's so cute! He truly misses his grandmas and grandpas and can't wait until he gets to see them again.

3 and a Tree

So much fun happened during the month of December that I just didn't get around to doing too much blogging. . . okay ANY blogging! :)

At the beginning of December our sweet little girl turned 3 months old! A few fun facts about the gal at 3 months. . .

-Rebecca started to sleep from about 10 PM to 4 AM during the night!!! Yipee! 6 hours of sleep is a beautiful thing when you are EXHAUSTED! Thank you baby girl!

-Found out that the key to successful sleeping was to put her in the bouncer. This keeps her upright so that she doesn't spit up so much and wake herself up. She will even put herself to sleep in the bouncer.

-She has become SO interactive. . . cooing, laughing, babbling, smiling. She ADORES her brother and will watch his every move (that or she is terrified of him thinking he might squish her, but I'm pretty sure it's love since he gets the BIGGEST smiles of all).

-She had her first ear infection. And it was not just any ear infection. It was a super nasty double ear infection! Poor baby was MISERABLE! Luckily after a few doses of the antibiotic she was a much happier girl.

-She is definitely a cuddler and a people person. This part is pretty fun for me because David was not at this age. He was too busy exploring his world and MOVING! Becca is pretty content to have someone hold her and talk to her and she will just cuddle, smile, and coo back.

-Got to go see Santa Clause. I honestly wasn't too worried about her, but was worried how David would react. Both did WONDERFUL! They LOVED it and I got a super cute picture too.

Happy 3 months little Becca boo!

Also, December brought one of my favorite seasons and holidays! Christmas!! I love Christmas, the joy and spirit of service. Not to mention the opportunity to remember Jesus Christ, his birth, life, and sacrifice for me and all of us. Having children has just made this time of the year even more enjoyable for me and as David grows and understands more and more it is especially fun! We went and cut down our Christmas tree with 2 of Brett's siblings and their spouses after Thanksgiving, had a wonderful Christmas party with Brett's extended family (a wonderful holiday tradition), and traveled to Salt Lake for Christmas stopping on the way for Becca to meet Great-Grandpa Sawyer for the first time. Not to mention being spoiled by many family and friends! Merry Christmas! :) I'm only a month late!
